Qualifying in Montreal is complete, and the starting grid for the Canadian Grand Prix is set: Formula 1 is gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling race!

Qualifying in Montreal delivered a true spectacle, with red flags, unexpected eliminations, and plenty of drama. But when the dust settled, it was George Russell who emerged on top, securing pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix. Right behind him, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri will start from second and third, promising a thrilling battle into Turn 1.

One of the biggest shocks of the session was Carlos Sainz, who had shown great pace in FP1 by finishing third, but failed to make an impact in qualifying, ending up only 18th overall.

Penalties: Tsunoda Drops Down the Grid

As of now, only one penalty has been confirmed by the stewards: Yuki Tsunoda has received a 10-place grid penalty for failing to respect red flags during FP3. This significantly compromises his starting position and will force him to fight from the back.

UPDATE (9:15): Isack Hadjar has also been handed a penalty for impeding Carlos Sainz. As a result, the Frenchman will start from 12th place.

UPDATE (15:20): Third grid penalty for the Canadian GP! Pierre Gasly will start from the pit lane after Alpine breached parc fermé regulations.

UPDATE (19:00): Another grid change! Liam Lawson will also start from the pit lane.
