Casey Stoner didn’t mince his words when commenting on MotoGP’s latest changes: “I don’t care about any of this.”

The 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, won by Marc Márquez, delivered excitement on track, but it was Stoner who grabbed headlines in the paddock. Invited as a “Legend” at the Red Bull Ring, the Australian voiced his strong opposition to the new technical directive set to be introduced in MotoGP.

The regulation will bring in an electronic control system designed to reduce rear tire spin and lower the risk of highsides. While the intention is to improve rider safety, Stoner believes it risks stripping away the very essence of the sport.

“We’re turning engineers into champions, not riders into champions. We’re in an era where all the same mistakes of F1 are being repeated. You’ve got almost 300 horsepower, you can twist the throttle and nothing happens. The best riders in the world are on the easiest bikes to ride.”

I’m not interested in any of this. Basically, you just have to brake hard and enter the corner. Skill doesn’t matter anymore” Stoner told Autosport.

His harsh words bring back into focus an ongoing debate: how far should electronics go in MotoGP? On one side, safety remains the number-one priority. On the other, concerns are growing that technology might overshadow rider talent, making races more predictable and bikes “too easy to ride,” as Stoner himself stressed.
