The Hungarian race weekend officially begins: Pini leads, followed by Foggia and Piqueras. Munoz also does well, but it’s a tough session for Carpe and Rueda.

Moto3 kicks off the action at the Balaton Park Circuit: there are no benchmarks yet for what could be considered a good pace, as this is the first time racing takes place on this track. However, by comparing the times of the junior class with those of WorldSSP, it seems that the riders have started this weekend at full throttle.

The fastest of all is Guido Pini, who stops the clock at 1:47.070 (just four seconds slower than Bo Bendsneyder’s Supersport pole). Right behind him, a very quick Dennis Foggia continues to prove he’s in great shape.

Red Bull Ring winner Angel Piqueras finishes third, while Rueda continues to struggle (13th). This circuit also seems to favor Honda more than KTM: in fact, the top bikes from the Japanese manufacturer are the Leopard machines of Fernandez (5th) and Almansa (8th).

After the WorldSBK experience, many are wondering whether the run-off areas at Balaton Park are safe enough: for now, there isn’t enough data to say for sure, but at the beginning of FP1, Marcos Uriarte crashed in what could have been a very dangerous incident (WATCH the crash video HERE).
