Cadillac’s driver line-up revealed: here are the two at the wheel of the 11th team
Cadillac has officially announced its Formula 1 driver pairing for 2026: Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, as anticipated in recent weeks. The two veterans, with over 500 GPs combined and 16 total victories, will lead the cars of the new American team backed by General Motors and led by Graeme Lowdon, former Marussia chief.
For Perez, it marks a return after leaving Red Bull at the end of 2024 and taking a sabbatical year. Bottas, who spent 2025 in the paddock as Mercedes’ third driver, regains a full-time seat after his stint with Sauber. Both expressed enthusiasm for the challenge, highlighting Cadillac’s historic value and their will to contribute to building a long-term project.
Lowdon explained that the experience and leadership of Perez and Bottas will be crucial to giving the team stability right from the start: “They’ve seen it all and know what it takes to win, but above all, what it takes to build a team.”
Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss and GM President Mark Reuss also emphasized that signing Perez and Bottas goes beyond a simple driver line-up: it represents the “beginning of a project designed to leave a mark in the history of American motorsport.”
