Even this time, the Albiceleste fans didn’t hold back: Pierre Gasly ended up at the center of controversy after the final laps of the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix.

But what exactly happened? Let us explain, step by step.

Lap by lap: the Colapinto VS Gasly case

Lap 65: Lando Norris retires from the Dutch Grand Prix. Gasly is in P11, Colapinto in P14.

Lap 67: Pierre Gasly stays on track with used hard tires, while Colapinto pits for fresh softs.

Lap 68: The race resumes. Gasly’s tires are too worn, making him the slowest driver on track.

Lap 69: Ocon overtakes Gasly to claim virtual P10, which is worth a point. Ocon is on medium tires, unlike Gasly on hard and Colapinto on soft.

Lap 70: In the third-to-last lap, Colapinto stays glued to Gasly, attempting repeated overtakes. The team instructs Gasly to let Colapinto pass, but the overtake only happens on the final straight. Colapinto loses several seconds, estimated between 3 and 4, behind his teammate.

Lap 71: Colapinto finally overtakes Gasly, sarcastically commenting on the radio: “Why? Thanks, thanks.”

Lap 72: The last lap begins with Ocon 2.4 seconds ahead of Colapinto. At the checkered flag, only 0.4 seconds separate them. Ocon is remarkably faster than both his teammate and the former owner of that seat, Gasly, and earns a point.

For Colapinto, it remains his best result of 2025, but there’s a bitter taste for the missed opportunity.
