Oscar Piastri had to settle for third place at Monza, losing just three points in the World Championship battle to Lando Norris
Oscar Piastri enjoys his third place. The Championship’s leader reaches an overall nice third place in Monza, losing just three points on his title rival Lando Norris.
Thanks in part to Max Verstappen, the Australian leaves Monza having conceded only a small margin to Norris, who was quicker all weekend starting from Friday. The only real flashpoint came with Norris’s slow pit stop: Lando rejoined behind Piastri, only for the team to order Oscar to give the position back.
A Glass-Half-Full Race: “Still a Positive Weekend”
However, in his post-race interview, Piastri chose not to dwell on the pit stop controversy, instead explaining: “ The start was a bit tricky. Definitely not my best laps at the beginning of the race. We had good pace compared to Charles but I just couldn’t get past him”.
“After I managed to get ahead, the race was fairly straightforward. In the end we scored solid points, so overall I’m happy. We went long on the pit stops, staying out in case of a Safety Car“.
“Max covered things well, and then it didn’t make sense to wait any longer. As for what happened with Lando, it’s fine. The weekend was still positive, and we can learn a lot. Hopefully we can achieve better results in the upcoming races “.
