Formula 1 lands in Azerbaijan: here’s the WEATHER and TIMINGS for the Baku GP!
Twenty cars, one goal: cross the finish line first at top speed on the longest straight of the F1 calendar, after navigating extremely twisty sections like the Castle corner. This is Baku, this is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, now one of the most intriguing events in Formula 1.
Baku City Circuit: Key Features
The Baku City Circuit, introduced to Formula 1 in 2016, is one of the most fascinating and unpredictable tracks on the calendar. Located in the heart of the Azerbaijani capital, it combines very long high-speed straights with tight, technical sections that wind through the historic old city walls. The most iconic section is undoubtedly the one alongside the Maiden Tower, featuring an extremely narrow passage of just 7.6 meters—one of the trickiest in the entire championship.
Beyond its technical complexity, Baku is famous for delivering unpredictable races. The very long main straight, over two kilometers, encourages slipstreaming and last-minute overtakes, often decisive in the closing laps. It’s no coincidence that the Azerbaijani circuit has become synonymous with spectacle and unpredictability, capable of mixing up the field and flipping standings that seemed already set.
Weather in Baku
No rain is expected over the weekend, as has historically been the case during the Azerbaijan GP. However, note that while Saturday will have some clouds, strong wind gusts are forecast for Sunday, which could affect performance and therefore the race outcome.
