A special day for Horacio Pagani: the founder of Pagani Automobili, a true emblem of Italian excellence, has been awarded an Honorary Degree in Design and Engineering
It was a remarkable day for a remarkable figure in motorsport. Today, Horacio Pagani received what stands as the latest accolade in a career defined by vision, artistry, and relentless innovation.
At the Politecnico Milano, the ceremony celebrating the conferral of the Master’s Degree in Design & Engineering honored the Argentine-born entrepreneur for his unparalleled genius in the automotive world.
The event perfectly captured Pagani’s philosophy — a seamless fusion of art, design, mechanics, and unorthodox creativity — accompanied by an exclusive exhibition showcasing Pagani’s masterpieces and engines. A true celebration of Italian craftsmanship and an inspiring moment for thousands of young people drawn to the world of motorsport and high-performance automobiles.
A history of success and Italy: Horacio Pagani
Born in Casilda, Argentina, in November 1955, Horacio Pagani nurtured an unbreakable bond with engines and design from an early age. A mechanical engineering student, he made his debut at just 24 years old — an absolute record — with his own Formula 2 car in 1979, supported by Renault, which supplied engines for the then newly founded Pagani Automobili.
His true professional breakthrough came with his move to Italy, driven by marriage, a decision that would transform his destiny. The Italian Peninsula became his launchpad: first through his collaboration with Lamborghini, and later through the creation of Horacio Pagani Composite Research in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
A lifelong friend of fellow Argentine and five-time Formula 1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio, Pagani paid tribute to him with the Zonda C12, launched 26 years ago and affectionately known as the Fangio F1. The homage continued with the Zonda F, unveiled in 2005.
Today, although Pagani Automobili has never entered Formula 1, it stands as a symbol of engineering artistry and passion. The company continues to craft breathtaking automotive sculptures, including the most recent Huayra Codalunga Speedster, unveiled in July.
With record revenues exceeding €138 million in 2022, Pagani Automobili remains a jewel of Italian industry — from Emilia-Romagna to the world. From Italy, with honor. Or rather, ad honorem.
