F1 | Turkish F1 GP in 2027: How Would the Calendar Change?

The Turkish GP is set to return to F1 as early as next season: so how would the calendar change?

Sometimes they come back. This morning, in fact, Turkish media went absolutely crazy over the news of an imminent return of F1 to Istanbul Park, the historic circuit that hosts the Turkish GP.

The F1 calendar could, therefore, change once again as early as next season, with the addition of a new (yet historic) European stage. Let’s see how.

A Calendar Full of Unknowns and… Rotations

The 2027 F1 Circus calendar will be full of novelties and experiments. It is precisely starting from the next season that the calendar will experience, for the first time in the history of the sport, the so-called “rotation” of scheduled GPs. While Madrid will make its debut this year (despite significant delays in the track’s construction), next year is set to see the grand return of the Portuguese track Portimao, alongside Istanbul.

The inclusion of Portimao (which will certainly take place in the 2027-28 biennial) will therefore impact other European rounds, including Barcelona, which will not host the Circus in 2027, just like Zandvoort.

The Catalan track, in fact, will strictly alternate with the Belgian GP at Spa, following this sequence: Spa in the “odd years” 2027, 2029, and 2031; Montmeló in 2028, 2030, and 2032.

With the possible and now almost certain entry of Istanbul, as well as the officialization of Portimao, the calendar will almost certainly undergo further rotations among GPs in the Old Continent, not to mention that many Asian and African tracks have knocked on Domenicali’s door in recent months.

The most likely candidate remains Thailand, with Bangkok inevitably vying to play a leading role with its street circuit, also “sponsored” on multiple occasions by Alexander Albon. Other hypotheses include India and South Korea, while there is increasingly less talk of a potential return of the Circus to Kyalami, in South Africa, or an arrival in Rwanda.
