The French rider doesn’t hold back: “What he did is like riding the wrong way!”

Strong words in the aftermath of the Jerez Sprint. Johann Zarco, who had been enjoying a strong weekend, openly criticized Marc Marquez following the controversial incident that decided the race, directly questioning the legitimacy of the result.

The reference is clear: Marquez’s crash at the final corner and his return towards the pit lane. According to Zarco, that move should not have been allowed – contrary to what the stewards stated immediately after the chequered flag.

Zarco’s words

Speaking to Canal+, the #5 said: “Marc Marquez should not have won the race because when he crashed at the last corner, it already meant he had decided not to enter the pits. Going back towards the pit lane after Turn 13 is like going the wrong way — something you simply cannot do.”

He then added: “If he doesn’t get a penalty, it’s honestly very strange. People will say he knows the rules better than anyone, but I don’t think so — he’s just incredibly lucky.”
