La guida completa al secondo appuntamento stagionale della Formula 2, in programma a Miami
In addition to Formula 1, Formula 2 will also take center stage in Miami, hitting the track in the American continent for the first time in its history. The Florida event will replace, together with Montreal, the rounds that were originally scheduled to take place in April in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which were cancelled due to the war in the Middle East.
Formula 2 therefore returns to the track after the opening round of the 2026 season in Melbourne, almost two months later. In Australia, Nikola Tsolov, in just his third race in the feeder series, claimed victory in the Feature Race, taking advantage of pole-sitter Dino Beganovic’s retirement due to technical issues.
Two other rookies, Rafael Câmara and Laurens Van Hoepen, also stepped onto the podium in the Feature Race, while the Sprint Race was won by Joshua Dürksen, ahead of Noel León and Alexander Dunne, who later featured in a controversial incident with his teammate Martinius Stenshorne during Sunday’s race.
It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for the only Italian driver on the grid, Gabriele Minì, who was forced to start from 21st place in both races due to a technical issue encountered in qualifying. The Sicilian driver, however, produced two impressive comebacks, finishing both races in the points, with a sixth-place finish in the Sprint Race and an eighth-place result in the Feature Race.
The first American round in Formula 2 history will take place at the Miami International Autodrome, built around the Hard Rock Stadium. The track is 5.412 kilometers long and will be run over 23 laps in Saturday’s Sprint Race and 32 laps in Sunday’s Feature Race, which also includes a mandatory pit stop for a tyre change.

Formula 2 in Miami: the weather
In addition to the unknowns of the circuit, Formula 2 drivers will have to take another variable into account, namely the weather. Indeed, while Friday and Saturday are expected to be sunny, with very high track temperatures of around 50°C, there appears to be a real risk of rain on Sunday.
Miami’s climate will make the situation even more treacherous, as, just as seen in the 2025 Formula 1 Sprint Race, brief but very heavy rain showers are frequent and can easily flood the track. Nevertheless, the asphalt still tends to dry quickly, with slick tyres becoming the fastest option in the final laps of the Sprint Race.
