The Formula 1 paddock returns after a month-long break, but the Miami weekend might not go as planned
As already reported yesterday, Friday and Saturday in the US are expected to be sunny, while Sunday risks ending with no racing at all.
According to data from the GPKingdom app, the probability of rain with lightning during the Grand Prix has increased from 20% to 38% in the last few hours: a clear sign of worsening weather conditions over Florida.

One key detail: the main issue is not the rain itself, but the lightning. Forecasts indicate strong thunderstorms around the circuit on Sunday morning, with possible electrical activity still present at the scheduled race start time.
F1 delayed? The regulations are clear…
FIA regulations are explicit: in the presence of lightning near the track, the event can be suspended or cancelled for safety reasons. This is not a discretionary decision (despite many referencing past generations when racing continued in extreme conditions), but a mandatory rule.
As mentioned, Friday and Saturday should remain sunny, with conditions expected to deteriorate progressively toward Sunday. Florida weather is notoriously unstable and can change rapidly and unpredictably, meaning forecasts are reliable… only up to a point.
Formula 1 will monitor the situation hour by hour: the hope is still to see all 22 fastest cars in the world on track this weekend.
