Fred Vasser, during a recent interview, spoke about the engineers’ work and the more open-minded approach to the car.
Ferrari should have started another World Championship in Miami, but Florida hasn’t brought much luck to the Maranello-based team. Despite numerous updates (11 in total), the gap with the competition doesn’t seem to have changed, with Red Bull and McLaren appearing to have made a step forward, as evidenced by the results achieved over the Miami weekend. Fred Vasseur expressed his positive assessment of the engineers’ work and the change in approach across the entire team.

Here are the Frenchman’s detailed statements:“We must start with the mentality that we have room for improvement everywhere. I don’t know how it is for the others, but we will introduce updates that, if last year they helped us gain hundredths of a second, this year will help us gain tenths of a second What matters most will be the team’s ability to develop, to understand where others are doing a better job and therefore where to grow.”
Vasseur then added: “Clearly, what matters is the lap time, so we must innovate not just ‘for the sake of it.’. The goal is not innovation, but victory: I’m happy with this change in approach; I see the engineers feeling freer.”“.
