Fantastic pole position for Engstler in Germany! Where did the Verstappen-Gounon-Juncadella-Auer team place? The STARTING GRID of the Nürburgring 24h!
One of the most anticipated Nürburgring 24h ever, which sees the debut of Max Verstappen, 4-time Formula 1 World Champion, within the category. The qualifying sessions, however, did not go to the driver from Hasselt and his team, but to Engstler and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of the Red Bull ABT team.
The Italian team locks out the first two spots on the grid, ahead of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Scherer Sport PHX of Haase, Sims, and Green. And where is Max Verstappen positioned?
The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Verstappen Racing composed of the quartet Verstappen-Auer-Gounon-Juncadella classifies in fourth position, just over 8 tenths from the first slot.
Qualifying Summary
Max Verstappen managed to pass what in Formula 1 would be Q2, namely TQ2, which allows the first seven crews to qualify for TQ3. A final phase in which the Red Bull driver will not participate, as the regulations forbid any driver from taking part in more than one qualifying session. He will be replaced by the Spaniard Daniel Juncadella, a driver who certainly does not lack experience.
The fight for pole is won by Luca Engstler, who beats his teammates. Precisely the driver of the Verstappen.com team positions himself in the fourth slot after a slower lap compared to Max’s, but under different conditions.
