Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s outstanding start to the season could become truly legendary in Canada — here’s why.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli arrives in Canada as the championship leader with exactly 100 points, holding a 20-point advantage over teammate George Russell and already 41 over Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. At the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal — where he claimed his first-ever Formula 1 podium in 2025 — the Bologna-born driver could genuinely write a page of Formula 1 history. He is, in fact, on the verge of two legendary records.
One Step Away from Legend
Already during the Miami weekend, Antonelli had rewritten the record books by becoming the only driver in history to convert his first three career pole positions into victories. On Saturday in Florida, Kimi also became one of only three drivers ever to secure their first three career pole positions consecutively, joining legends such as Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. If the Italian were to start from pole position again in Canada, he would claim yet another all-time record.
Antonelli, however, has the chance to carve his name even deeper into Formula 1 history despite his incredibly young age. With victories in China, Japan and Miami, Andrea Kimi Antonelli has matched Mika Häkkinen and Damon Hill, who were previously the only two drivers in history to win their first three career races consecutively. Neither of them, however, managed to go any further. If Kimi were to win again in Montreal, he would become the only driver in Formula 1 history to win his first four career races in a row.
