Andrea Kimi Antonelli, on the sidelines of the Trofeo Bandini awards ceremony, took stock of the situation, also speaking about Ferrari.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli is having a magical moment. A legendary start to the season (and it couldn’t be otherwise) for the young Mercedes driver, who has racked up four wins in the first five races, and in a row, to boot. His victory in Canada, against George Russell’s retirement, allowed the 2006-born driver to open up a significant lead over his teammate, now 43 points behind.

The season is still long, however, as Antonelli himself emphasized. These are his comments on the sidelines of the Trofeo Bandini: “The team is doing a great job. Unfortunately, many people only talk about the engine, but I have to say that the chassis is also really good. We’re fast in the corners and wear the tires very little, so I have to say that chassis-wise, we’re in a very good position.”
The current world championship leader then added:“We’ll see which teams receive the ADUO. Ferrari certainly seems like one of them. If they can develop the engine, they’ll get closer, because they’re also in a good position in terms of chassis. . Chassis-wise, they’re in a good position, but they seem to struggle a bit more in the race when there’s degradation. If they can bring a developed engine, they’ll get closer.
But it won’t be easy, because finding more power in an engine is never easy and it takes a bit of time, but if they manage to find the right balance, they’ll get very close and could cause us concern.”
