The Mercedes Team Principal presented the Brazilian Grand Prix to the press, stating that Ferrari and McLaren remain favorites according to Toto Wolff.

Mercedes finished the Mexican Grand Prix in fourth and fifth positions, with Lewis Hamilton ahead of George Russell, but there were no notable highlights from the Silver Arrows, who appeared quite distant from Ferrari and McLaren.

Mercedes, Toto Wolff: “In Brazil it’s difficult to compete with Ferrari and McLaren.”

The same script, according to Team Principal Toto Wolff, could repeat itself in Brazil. The German introduced the Interlagos event to the press: “Interlagos is a true driver’s track, with many undulations and a challenging mix of slow, medium, and fast corners. Being the penultimate weekend of the year with a Sprint format, we need to be quick in optimizing the car from the first session to find the right setup immediately. We know it will be complicated to challenge Ferrari and McLaren, who have shown to be very strong in recent races. We will work hard to close the gap and see how our performance unfolds over the weekend.”

Ferrari and McLaren, therefore, remain ahead for Toto, who added: “The last two races in Austin and Mexico City haven’t been the most straightforward, so we aim for a smoother weekend in Interlagos. Despite the challenges we’ve faced recently, we have made progress in better understanding the W15. Given our position in the championship, we’ve been able to experiment with some solutions without facing significant penalties.

While we remain focused on maximizing our results every weekend, these tests and the learning that comes from them will be crucial in preparing us for 2025. We’ll adopt the same approach this weekend in Brazil.”
