Da Costa leads the first day of testing at the Jarama circuit, with Wehrlein only in eighth. Penalty for Jaguar and Nissan!
The first day of Formula E testing at the Jarama circuit in Madrid has come to an end, following the cancellation of sessions at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit due to the severe flooding that especially affected the city of Valencia, in whose honor a minute of silence was observed. Today’s session also marks the beginning of the Gen3 EVO era, in anticipation of the official debut scheduled for December 7 on the São Paulo street circuit.
The fastest driver of the day was Antonio Felix Da Costa in his Porsche, sporting a new livery dominated by purple. The Portuguese driver set a time of 1:29.220 and completed a solid 30 laps. Rounding out the top three were Jake Dennis in the Andretti and Maximilian Gunther in the DS Penske. Gunther made his debut in the golden car after two fairly successful years with Maserati.

In fourth place, more than half a second behind Antonio Felix Da Costa, was Edoardo Mortara in the Mahindra, looking to make a comeback after a challenging season. Stoffel Vandoorne, debuting with Maserati, took fifth. Completing the top ten were Nico Mueller, who moved from ABT to Andretti; Jake Hughes in the second Maserati; reigning world champion Pascal Wehrlein; and two seasoned Formula E veterans, Jean-Eric Vergne and Lucas Di Grassi, driving for the new ABT Lola Yamaha team.
As for the rookies in Season 11, Taylor Barnard, driving for NEOM McLaren, led the newcomers by securing 12th place. However, this won’t be a true debut for him, as he previously participated in three races during Season 10 as a substitute driver, also with the papaya-colored team.

Zane Maloney finished in sixteenth position with the ABT Lola. Right behind him is David Beckmann, who has been confirmed as an official test driver for the new team Kiro Race Co, alongside Dan Ticktum. The American team has not yet announced its final driver lineup for Season 11, but Beckmann is certainly an important candidate, especially due to his experience with the Porsche powertrain, as he was the third driver for the German team in 2024.
The Nissan and Jaguar teams did not participate in this session due to the action taken by Formula E for violating the budget cap. Therefore, Evans, Cassidy, Rowland, and Nato were forced to watch the debut of the Gen3 EVO from the pits, but they will be able to return to the track as usual tomorrow.
