Martin, leader in MotoGP by “coming second”: the incredible statistic of his 2024 season

For Jorge Martin, the MotoGP title seems only a matter of time: a title achieved with… consistency.

Jorge Martin has the MotoGP championship within reach, and on paper, Barcelona looks like just a final showcase for him. Nevertheless, the Spanish rider, with a stellar performance in Sprints and incredible consistency throughout the year, has managed to put one hand on the 2024 title by finishing in 2nd place in 10 of the last 14 races.

Despite his advantage, the Spaniard doesn’t yet see himself as the final winner: “Battling with a champion like Pecco is crazy. Title? I’m certainly confident: I feel a little closer to the final goal, but nothing is over until it’s over, so we have to stay super focused until the last lap.”

Martinator’s performance over the last 14 races: 71% second places!

From Barcelona until now, number 89 has achieved:

  • One victory
  • Ten second places
  • One third place
  • One fifteenth place
  • One DNF

Conversely, Pecco Bagnaia has won 8 of the last 14 races, scoring 268 points on Sundays (compared to Martin’s 242): Martin’s consistency in Sprints, however, has paid off more, and now the Pramac phenomenon is ready to make MotoGP history in less than 7 days.

Consistency is key, one could say, looking at a world championship season as exceptional as this one.
