The news had been circulating, but now it’s official: Jack Doohan will take the place of Esteban Ocon in Abu Dhabi.

A shake-up at Alpine for the final race of the year. The French team has officially announced that Jack Doohan (Alpine’s second driver in 2025) will replace Esteban Ocon in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The news had been expected, but the official statement has just been released, confirming that the team will rely on the son of the former racer to secure their sixth position in the Constructors’ Championship.

Here is the official statement from Alpine: “BWT Alpine Formula One Team announces that reserve driver Jack Doohan will race in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in place of Esteban Ocon. This substitution will allow Esteban to take part in the post-season testing with the Haas team.”

During the Abu Dhabi weekend, Doohan will also race with the number 61, while next season, as previously announced a few weeks ago, he will race with number 7. This decision works well for everyone: Alpine can immediately test its new driver, and at the same time, Ocon can join the Haas team and participate in the tests scheduled for next week.
