After the doubts raised in recent weeks, here is the great news for the organizers of the Madrid GP.
The Madrid Grand Prix, scheduled for 2026, will take place. After some uncertainty in recent weeks, the event organizers can now breathe a sigh of relief thanks to the arrival of a new sponsor, who will guarantee at least 400 million euros for the development of the project.
The project, according to early reports, is expected to be magnificent and ultra-luxurious, with at least 15,000 tickets allocated to so-called “VIPs.” According to “El Mundo,” the deal has been signed with Match Hospitality, a Swiss multinational specializing in VIP services for high-level sports events. This company will guarantee 400 million euros over 10 years to help Madrid become one of the most prominent centers in the Formula 1 world.
It’s worth noting that the Madrid Grand Prix, officially on the calendar from 2026, was announced by F1 on January 23, 2024. The circuit will be a street track, similar to those introduced in recent years: it will measure 5.474 kilometers and consist of 20 corners. Simulations suggest a qualifying lap time of around 1 minute and 32 seconds, although with the latest updates to the regulations, times could easily improve.
The track, currently under construction, will be located on the outskirts of the city and will be divided by an elevated highway. The circuit will also cover three different areas of the Spanish capital: the first is within the exhibition grounds, the second on public roads, and the third will be on an adjacent, currently unused area.
