A terrible tragedy in the Netherlands: at just 7 years old, Sid Veijer, cousin of Moto2 rider Collin Veijer, passed away after a tragic accident in his hometown of Swalmen.

The young boy was injured on December 22 after a severe impact. His condition was immediately critical, with serious head and facial injuries. Yesterday, the family announced his passing, followed by a message from his cousin Collin, a rising star in Moto3 last year with 1 win and 9 podiums, who moved up to Moto2 for 2025.

Here is the statement from the family: “Last Monday, there was a small ray of hope regarding Sid’s situation. By the end of the week, that ray of hope turned into the darkest scenario, becoming an unfair battle that Sid could not win.

Sid fought like a lion. We – Reinold and Rianne, Boyd, Muck, and Loek – fought alongside him until the last minute with everything we had, and the doctors and nurses did everything they could… Sid passed away this afternoon, surrounded by his loving family” , the statement concludes.
