George Russell is fired up as he looks ahead to the season that will begin in just under two months, here are his words.
George Russell ended 2024 on a high, delivering strong and consistent performances, notably the pole position and victory in Las Vegas. Two wins for the British Mercedes driver in last season’s championship, and as he looks forward to the new season, he doesn’t want to rule out any results.

Here are his words, starting with his ambitions for the upcoming season: “Formula 1 is a unique sport, so you can’t set rigid numerical goals. If I said I wanted to win four races because I won three last year, I wouldn’t be satisfied if I won five but the car was capable of fighting for ten wins.”
One of the areas he’s focusing on is race pace, and here’s what he had to say about that: “I tend to set more specific goals. Qualifying has been a strong point, but race pace hasn’t always been optimal. I know I have the pace for a single lap, but there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be able to convert that into consistent performance.”
At Mercedes, there’s a strong desire for redemption after the mixed 2024 season, which still yielded four wins for the German team. Here’s Russell’s take on that: “There are elements I need to focus on to achieve these goals. Some of these may not be clear to the spectators, but for me, they are a priority. The beauty of this sport is that every year you start from zero, with a different car and new challenges. What was a strength can become a limitation, so you always need to be ready to adapt.”
