Scuderia Ferrari has announced its reserve drivers for the 2025 season: Antonio Giovinazzi and Guanyu Zhou.
Guanyu Zhou joins Ferrari alongside Antonio Giovinazzi as the third driver. In addition to Hamilton and Leclerc, the team will rely on the two former Sauber/Alfa Romeo drivers throughout the upcoming season.

Ferrari’s Official Announcement
A new arrival and a confirmation for the Scuderia Ferrari HP reserve driver role: Guanyu Zhou is joining the team, alongside Antonio Giovinazzi, who has once again been confirmed as a reserve driver. For the Chinese driver, this is actually a homecoming after spending four years (2015-2018) in the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.
Zhou became the first driver from China to compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix, racing for Alfa Romeo Racing in the 2022 and 2023 seasons before continuing with the same team under the Kick Sauber name in 2024. Over his 68 Grand Prix starts, he has scored 16 points and set two fastest laps.

His Career Path. Born in Shanghai on May 30, 1999, Zhou entered Ferrari’s Driver Academy in 2015 after completing his karting career. During his time in Maranello, he gained experience in Formula 4 and Formula 3. His path and Ferrari’s diverged at the end of 2018, just before his Formula 2 debut, where he secured five victories and twenty podiums over three seasons—results that earned him a place in Formula 1.
Teammate in the Reserve Role. As mentioned, Zhou will share the reserve driver duties with Antonio Giovinazzi, the 1993-born Italian driver who has been part of Scuderia Ferrari HP since 2017. Giovinazzi will also continue competing in the World Endurance Championship, driving the Ferrari 499P #51, the same car with which he won the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.
