Carlos Sainz has tested the new Williams FW47 for the first time. The Spanish driver seemed pleased with the initial feedback, but…
The moment has arrived: Carlos Sainz’s first season in white and blue is about to begin. From Grove, the home of Williams, the British team took to Silverstone for an installation lap with the Spaniard and, most importantly, to unveil the FW47—the car that aims to dominate the midfield and lay solid foundations for a crucial 2026 season, where Williams will be looking for redemption.

Sainz hit the track in his brand-new machine. While everything seemed to go smoothly on the team’s side, there was one unexpected challenge… the weather.

Carlos Sainz’s words
Here’s what driver #55 had to say: “How fast is the car? It’s too early to say, considering I was running wet tires on a dry track. However, I can say that everything went smoothly, which is definitely a good sign. The installation lap in a brand-new car can always be tricky, but this time everything worked as expected, allowing us to move forward with the day’s program.
Now, I’ll talk to the engineers to give them my feedback on a couple of things that, in my opinion, could be improved in terms of driving feel. As soon as this interview is over, I’ll go discuss it with them. Then, once the car is ready, we’ll fit the slick tires and start gradually pushing the limits,” , he concluded.
