Aston Martin’s next goal is clear: to join the top teams. After a major organizational overhaul within the team, important updates have been revealed regarding the technical specifications of the AMR25, the car with which Lawrence Stroll’s team will compete in the 2025 season.

Following the official launch of the 2025 liveries in London on Tuesday, February 18, Aston Martin revealed the renders of the new creation from Lawrence Stroll’s team: the final one before the introduction of the new technical regulations, and the last one to be developed entirely by the golden engineer of the entire F1 Circus, Adrian Newey. Although Newey’s switch from Red Bull to Aston Martin was announced in September, he couldn’t participate in the creation of the AMR25 due to the gardening period following his departure from Milton Keynes. However, it seems that Newey has overseen the development of the car with which Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will race during the upcoming Formula 1 season.

Aston Martin finished last season in 5th place in the Constructors’ Championship, with 94 points, 374 points behind 4th place Mercedes. The past season was a tough one for Aston Martin, with the Silverstone-based team falling behind despite a promising start in 2023. This led the British team to implement several changes within its structure in search of a dream team, with the name of Adrian Newey standing out—who could bring another world title to Spain’s Fernando Alonso.

From the renders shared by the team, it is noticeable that Aston Martin took a different approach compared to the development of Ferrari’s SF-25. While Ferrari adopted a pull-rod system at the front and push-rod at the rear, Aston Martin opted to keep the push-rod system at both ends. Regarding the aerodynamics, the AMR25 features significant modifications to the designs of the front and rear wings, sidepods, engine cover, and floor. These changes aim to improve airflow management and open up new development avenues, particularly with an eye on 2026, when the new technical regulations will come into play and Newey’s design expertise will be crucial.

Furthermore, the primary objective pursued by Aston Martin’s engineers has been to enhance the car’s drivability to help both drivers extract its full potential. The new car’s track debut is scheduled for tomorrow, February 24, in Bahrain for the filming day, followed by the pre-season tests on February 26-28.

Projections for the AMR25 shared by Aston Martin’s key figures

Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal of Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, stated: “I am thrilled to start this season and to see the AMR25 hit the track tomorrow in Bahrain. It is the culmination of an immense amount of work and dedication at the AMR Technology Campus. We are all inspired by Aston Martin’s DNA and have an unwavering pursuit of excellence, both on and off the track. For this year’s car, we truly took to heart the lessons and feedback from last season. We focused on creating a more drivable car for Lance and Fernando and pushed to make it more forgiving.

On the future prospects for the 75th edition of the Championship, the Team Principal added: “We expect a tight and competitive grid in Australia from the start, so we know it won’t be easy. Our goals are realistic in terms of how we can continue improving across all areas, especially as we, like all teams, approach a fundamental regulatory change in 2026 .”

Fernando Alonso has made no secret of his next goal, stating clearly the timeframe within which he intends to win his third World Drivers’ Championship: in the next three years. If this does not happen, the Spaniard may consider a return to the Dakar.

Looking at the new car, Alonso said: “We learned a lot in 2024, and the team used that as a driving force as we head into this season with the AMR25. The competition will be fierce this year, in the final year of the current regulations, but I know the team has worked hard at the AMRTC to ensure we’re ready. I’m excited to get back on track; I’m ready to help this team become stronger and continue this journey with Aston Martin Aramco .“

Finally, Lance Stroll added: “Everyone at the AMRTC has worked hard during the winter to improve in preparation for 2025. As a team, we all want to do well, and we will continue to learn throughout the year. What we’re building here is an exciting project with great tools and talented people, and 2025 is a key year for making progress. I can’t wait for the season to begin and to get back behind the wheel, starting with the pre-season tests in Bahrain .”
