Ferrari chairman John Elkann isn’t stopping at motorsport — he’s envisioning a future where the Prancing Horse takes to the water as well.
Ferrari has never set limits for itself. Since its founding in 1929, the legendary marque has continued to expand its global legacy, spreading “rosso” passion across the globe and showcasing a unique embodiment of Italian excellence. Success and victories have always defined the essence of being Ferrari, from Formula 1 to the World Endurance Championship. And now, Elkann is openly proposing a future entry into the world of sailing.

Speaking at the company’s shareholder meeting, Elkann revealed Ferrari’s intention to broaden its involvement in global sport. This bold outlook from the current management highlights a willingness to embrace new and unknown challenges — thrilling and demanding — without ever straying from the core of Ferrari’s DNA: pure, unfiltered competition.
This process of expansion began two years ago with Ferrari’s return to the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. That campaign proved a success, with the team winning the centenary edition in 2023, followed by a strong reaffirmation in 2024. These victories helped reignite all-around passion among Ferrari fans, no longer limited to Formula 1 alone.
John Elkann’s Statement
“Enzo Ferrari was always looking for the next challenge, and so are we today. We’re preparing to enter the world of sailing: the pursuit of ultimate performance at sea will give us new opportunities for innovation in technology, performance, and sustainability. We’re confident that what we learn will inspire our future racing and road cars,” said Elkann.
“The launch was part of a series of unique experiences organized around the Miami Grand Prix. Our celebrations brought together the Ferrari community in the U.S. and showcased all three souls of the Prancing Horse: racing, sports cars, and lifestyle.”
“We will continue to create moments like these for our community. We know that to further strengthen our bond with customers and fans, it’s just as important to provide an exceptional experience as it is to deliver an exceptional product,” the Italian entrepreneur concluded.
