The first part of Moto3 qualifying at Assen has concluded: Luca Lunetta leads the session, followed by David Munoz and Joel Kelso. Strong performances from the Italians, while Quiles and Carpe struggle.
The first dry session for the lightweight class has just ended. After a tough morning, track conditions improved for the Practice run. Over the course of 35 minutes, the 14 riders who will go directly into Q2 tomorrow were decided.

Setting the fastest lap of the session was Luca Lunetta: the Sic58 Squadra Corse rider topped the timesheets, pulling over two-tenths clear of David Munoz (2nd), who secured his Q2 spot during a final time attack. Behind them were Kelso (3rd), Rueda (4th), and Perrone (5th).
In contrast, both Quiles and Carpe will have to go through Q1: the rookie duo—who finished first and second at Mugello and also led FP1 this morning—struggled to find the right feeling on the now-dry track.

As for the Italian riders, all but two made it through. Nepa (15th) and Abruzzo (24th) missed out, while Dennis Foggia was the fastest behind Lunetta, finishing 8th. Carraro (12th) and Pini (13th) just barely scraped through.
