In recent years, thanks also to the Pandemic which prevented us from being able to get on track, an alternative has taken off in motorsport…
You know, motorsport is a very expensive discipline and not accessible to many. But there is an alternative, and it can be done with a few hundred euros: it’s called SimRacing, or “a sub-category of e-sports that simulates sports car racing”. That’s right: if you don’t have the possibility to face the expenses of a season on the track, virtual racing is a novelty that is increasingly taken into consideration and similar to reality. There are many who have already made a job out of this discipline, such as Amos Laurito (pictured) and many other Italian and international creators. Formula 1 itself founded a championship in 2017, the “F1 Esports Series“, which this year will begin its seventh edition on the official game “F1 23”: among the winners in 2019, David Tonizza stands out with the Scuderia Ferrari Esports Team , the only Italian World Champion so far.Different kinds of experiences
There are many games: from the more graphically complete like “F1 23”, to the more professional and similar to reality like “Assetto Corsa” and “iRacing”, the latter often also used by drivers of the caliber of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Just as there is variety in the choice of games, the same can be found in the choice of two fundamental elements such as the racing wheel and pedalboard: it starts from simple equipment and without Force Feedback (that is, according to Wikipedia, a “technology present in some hardware devices that allows resistance to the force exerted by the user to control the device” and which therefore makes the experience realistic) that do not exceed 100 euros of expenditure (obviously only useful if the intent is to have fun every now and then and not compete), up to equipment that exceeds the several thousand euros complete with steering wheel, pedal set and seating platform e replicate the driving positions in the race. In short, if you’ve always dreamed of becoming a pilot but never had the opportunity… SimRacing could be an alternative to get you closer to your dream!Photo: X.com, Instagram.com/AmosLaurito
