Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari is just around the corner, and the son of the Drake, Piero, shared his thoughts, also recounting a funny anecdote.
With emotions, curiosity, and certainly much anticipation from the fans, Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in Maranello is nearly here. At the headquarters of the Prancing Horse, everything has been ready for some time— from the drivers’ passes to the bowls for the four-legged friends of Charles Leclerc and the number 44, as confirmed by the latest posts on the team’s social media, which continue to fuel excitement for the arrival of the Stevenage driver at the Scuderia Ferrari. In fact, the seven-time world champion is scheduled to arrive next week, with a first training session on the simulator, followed by pure on-track action at the Fiorano circuit.
In an interview with Quotidiano Sportivo, Piero Ferrari, son of the Drake, expressed his opinion on the new addition to the iconic team that bears his surname. The Italian entrepreneur and Ferrari Vice President, who will turn 80 on May 22, next year, requested what could be considered a special birthday gift: ” The other evening, I promised my friend Toschi, the president of the Modena Lions, that we would celebrate together with the world championship title. It would be a nice way to celebrate my birthday! That said, we are all exceptional in January, so I am optimistic.”
When asked if his optimism was related to the arrival of the seven-time world champion, Piero Ferrari had no doubts about Hamilton’s abilities, even sharing a particular anecdote that confirms how every driver has always dreamed of wearing the Scuderia Ferrari colors in Formula 1.
““The champion speaks for itself; he has enormous charisma. He and Leclerc make a great pair. We’ve known each other for a long time. He’s a customer of ours, he likes Ferraris. We’ve met before when he came to the factory to select the details for the car he was buying. I’ll tell you something: even back then, when he was just a customer, Hamilton had the idea of racing for Ferrari. He spoke to me about it, politely. I wasn’t surprised, and I’m happy about the agreement ” he said.
When it comes to the possibility of a victory, Ferrari renews his optimistic view: “I hope so. Of course, it will depend on the car we are able to give him and Charles. What I appreciate about Fred is the clarity with which he interprets and tackles problems .”
A victory for Scuderia Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship next season would certainly be a wonderful birthday gift for the Vice President, but also an incredible gift for the fans worldwide, who have never stopped hoping for the return of the Rossa to the top of the world.
