Lewis Hamilton spoke again about his darkest period, explaining that he never lost faith, even after the negative results.
Lewis Hamilton began the season with a markedly different attitude than his first season with Ferrari. The seven-time world champion, coming off a season that saw him struggle (without even a podium finish), started with a decidedly different attitude, achieving his first podium with the Prancing Horse during the Chinese Grand Prix. A competitive car and a different state of mind galvanized Lewis ahead of the restart.
Here are his words, in detail: “I never lost confidence in myself last year. It’s a natural process for an athlete to go through seasons like this; these are the moments when your strength is exposed. The most important thing is knowing how to get back up, and this year I did it. No one could have done it for me. It was the biggest test I could have faced at this point in my career. Despite the challenges, the goal is to get back to the top by fighting consistently. I’m proud of where I am today, but the road to closing the gap and returning to winning ways with Charles and the team is still long.”
