Andrea Kimi Antonelli scores his third consecutive victory at the Miami Grand Prix, consolidating his lead.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli shows no signs of slowing down and also takes the Miami Grand Prix. After his victories in China and Japan, the Italian Mercedes driver confirmed his lead in Florida, finishing ahead of the two McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. It was a race of absolute maturity from the current championship leader, capable of withstanding the constant pressure of the reigning world champion, who was always kept at a safe distance.
Antonelli becomes the first driver to win his first three GPs in a row, but more importantly, he consolidates his lead in the drivers’ standings by gaining points over teammate Russell. This was his satisfaction at the end of the race: “The start wasn’t as bad as yesterday; it went a little better. I didn’t expect Charles to brake so early, so to avoid him, I locked the wheels. I was a little lucky with what happened at Turn 2 when Verstappen spun, then I made a small energy management mistake trying to pass Charles, then I lost a position to Lando.
“Then the pace was high. I managed to stay close. The team implemented a great strategy. We made a crazy undercut and managed to take home the win, even if it wasn’t easy. This is just the beginning. There’s still a long road ahead. We’re working hard, and the team is doing an incredible job. Without them, I wouldn’t be here, so thank you to them and my family. I’ll enjoy this moment and then get back to work.”
