Lewis Hamilton, during the post-Canadian GP press conference, once again addressed the current regulatory cycle.

Lewis Hamilton is coming off his best weekend since joining Ferrari. The seven-time world champion, on a track he loves, secured a splendid second place thanks to his move on Max Verstappen in the closing laps of the race. Overall, it was a truly excellent weekend for Sir Lewis, who appeared on top form from the start and won the battle with Charles Leclerc, who for once had a weekend to forget.

However, at the end of the Montreal race, the Briton spoke again about the new regulation cycle with these words: “It’s definitely not natural what we’re doing, it’s still a strange feeling. You reduce the power, you go into Straight Mode, the power runs out halfway down the straight, and the engine revs start to drop. It doesn’t feel like what motorsport should be. The engine has to scream at the top of its lungs all the way down the straight and push and push.

That’s how it was in the days of the V8 or V10. Ultimately, these cars have a fundamentally better design, so we can battle, get closer, and follow each other closely, and that’s the best part. The power part is less exciting.”
