Experiencing the GT World Challenge from the Media Center at Monza
Outside, temperatures reached 31°C – credit to the fans who were already sitting in the grandstands at 8:00 a.m. – while inside the media center it was no more than 18°C. Yet the GT World Challenge (GTWC) at Monza was enjoyed as a genuine thrill even from the press room. The terrified roar and collective hands-on-head reaction at the end of the first lap proved it. Just seconds after the start of the 3 Hours of Monza, Marvin Kirchhöfer’s #59 McLaren was launched into the tire barriers at the First Chicane like the ball of a crazed pinball machine. Experiencing the GTWC live is a wonderful opportunity for every motorsport fan, whether or not they are fortunate enough to have a media accreditation. Here’s why.

Motorsport for the People
By “for the people,” I don’t mean “popular” in the traditional sense. I mean that the GT World Challenge truly belongs to everyone, starting with ticket prices. On Sunday, spectators could enter the circuit for just €30 and enjoy three hours of racing from any grandstand. Unlike Formula 1, there are no assigned seats: every ticket grants so-called “general admission,” meaning fans can sit wherever they wish, subject to availability. At the same time, spectators are free to move around the circuit and change grandstands whenever they like. You can watch the start from the First Chicane, spend part of the race at Ascari, and then head to the Parabolica Michele Alboreto for the final stages. It’s completely legitimate and perfectly in keeping with the GT spirit.
In addition, the ticket included paddock access and free parking (subject to availability). For just €10 more, fans could purchase the Grid Walk experience and enjoy the thrill of walking on the starting grid of the world’s premier GT championship, standing only a few meters away from the cars and drivers preparing for battle, including champions such as Valentino Rossi. Teenagers, children, and younger fans also benefited from heavily discounted tickets. Few championships of such a high level offer a comparable experience at such affordable prices.

A Festival Atmosphere
A fan zone with DJ sets, autograph sessions with drivers, and the chance to stroll through the paddock among mechanics, spare parts, and stacks of racing tires. It’s a perfect environment for anyone who loves cars: families, children, couples, groups of friends, and even those attending a motorsport event for the very first time. Compared to Formula 1, there is less chaos and far more freedom to explore every corner of a legendary venue such as Monza. The GT World Challenge offers an entire day immersed in motorsport and wonder. It is a truly complete experience.

Then there is the racing itself. Between strategy, wheel-to-wheel battles, regulatory requirements, an exceptionally high driving standard, and just a touch of chaos, absolutely anything can happen in the GTWC. The 3 Hours of Monza provided the perfect example: it became the first race in the history of the championship won by a Silver-class crew, which on paper is only the third category in the hierarchy (PRO, Gold, Silver, Bronze). It is an unpredictable and accessible championship that allows fans to fully enjoy their time at the circuit. It is also the perfect gateway to the true spirit of racing: going as fast as possible on track. Experienced live, the GT World Challenge is a joy that is both simple and profound.
