On Saturday, Lewis Hamilton will drive Ayrton Senna’s 1990 McLaren, according to Brazilian media.
Hamilton returns to Brazil, which feels like a second home to him. The connection between the British driver and the South American fans is visceral, as shown in past years by Hamilton’s reverence for Ayrton Senna and the love reciprocated by Brazilian fans for Sir Lewis.

Lewis Hamilton’s numbers in Brazil aren’t as impressive as at other circuits, but the seven-time world champion can still boast two victories (the last in 2021), three pole positions, and five podiums. It’s a bittersweet history for the Mercedes driver: in 2007, he lost the Drivers’ Championship to Raikkonen, while the following year he clinched it in the last corner, outsmarting home favorite Felipe Massa.
The deep connection between Hamilton and Brazil is rooted in his admiration for Senna. On Saturday, the Englishman will drive the 1990 McLaren of the Brazilian legend. Local media report that the car is already in the paddock and was present at the opening of the Interlagos weekend. Additionally, tomorrow the MP4/5B will be displayed in downtown São Paulo at an event attended by Emerson Fittipaldi, the Brazilian world champion who drove for McLaren in 1974.
