Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, gave an interview to Autosprint, discussing the Grands Prix of Imola and Monza.
Last week, Formula 1 announced through its official channels the renewal of its contract with the Belgian circuit of Spa until 2031. As stated in the press release, the historic track will be the first to enter the rotation, hosting the Grand Prix on a biennial basis starting from 2027.

The historic track that connects two countries will host the Grand Prix annually until 2027 and then make way for another circuit in the 2028 and 2030 seasons. One of these could be Imola, as suggested by Stefano Domenicali.
In an interview with Autosprint, the F1 CEO spoke about the Emilia-Romagna circuit. He said: “Imola has the will to continue and carry forward a project. The ‘Enzo and Dino Ferrari’ is an important circuit that could fit into the rotation logic, but not alongside Monza.”.
Monza, therefore, has its own unique history, but Domenicali also shared his thoughts on the project concerning the Lombardy racetrack: “The contract with Monza has been renewed with significant commitments in terms of infrastructure modernization. What was done at Monza last year was just the first necessary step. The concept that being considered a historic venue doesn’t mean it should remain old. Historic is a value only if projected into the future.”
