Carlos Sainz spoke to the official Formula 1 media on the sidelines of the London event, marking the start of his adventure with Williams.
Carlos Sainz is about to begin a new chapter in his career. After driving for Renault, McLaren, and Ferrari, the 1994-born Spaniard is set to start a new adventure behind the wheel of Williams. It’s a challenging and, at the same time, exciting opportunity for the Spaniard, who shared his feelings with the F1 media.

Here are Carlos Sainz’s words: “It will definitely be a big change, the biggest, moving from an Italian-based team to one based in the UK. But nothing I’m not used to, nothing I haven’t already seen before. Of course, it’s a great challenge that I can’t wait to take on, to have fun and continue being as patient as possible. I feel good, I feel at home, and that’s important.”
The Spaniard then spoke about his first experience with the new car: “The most noticeable thing when you switch teams is the engine. The noise, the vibrations, the sound, everything changes completely. So, even though I left the pits trying to understand the aerodynamics, the tires, and the feelings on the mechanical side of the car, the only thing I had to adjust to in the first laps was the difference between one power unit and another. That was probably the biggest change.”
And finally: “Also, the way the power unit works in terms of switches, with so many things running on our steering wheels—things like deployment, battery, and so on, as well as the engine and power unit safety procedures. All of this is definitely the biggest change I’ve had to adapt to so far at Williams.”
