This week, Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1, visited Thailand to discuss with the local prime minister the feasibility of organizing a Grand Prix in Bangkok, a potential street circuit. Domenicali himself commented, saying: “I believe one of the positive choices we’ve made in the last two years has been to focus on circuits and countries that we believe represent the future of Formula 1.”

Many countries have expressed interest in joining F1, as confirmed by Domenicali’s words: “We are seeing a great deal of interest from many nations eager to join the World Championship calendar, and that’s why, right after the Melbourne Grand Prix, I will head to Bangkok. The local authorities are willing to evaluate the potential inclusion in the calendar, and we’ll see if the government is ready to accept our terms, as we have other interested locations in Europe, Africa, and South America.”

The meeting was successful, and there is a shared intent. To assess the feasibility of the event, further discussions and meetings will be needed, but the first step has been taken. These were Domenicali’s words regarding his meeting with the Thai prime minister: “I was truly delighted to meet Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the Thai prime minister, and her team today to discuss their impressive plans to host a race in Bangkok. I look forward to continuing our discussions in the coming weeks and months.”
